A place to explore the numbers
The Political Nerd started with election analysis on social media. As more people began following my polling coverage, political analysis and election calls, I wanted to build something that could do more than a social media post ever could.
I wanted a place where you could explore the numbers yourself.
Instead of waiting for the next post or refreshing a social media profile on election night, you can follow polling, ratings and election results directly. And when I change a race rating or make an election call, I want you to be able to understand not only what changed, but why.
Politics without the unnecessary jargon
Political coverage can sometimes feel like it was written exclusively for people who already understand politics.
I want The Political Nerd to be different.
My goal is to make political information detailed without making it intimidating: clear explanations, approachable language, useful visuals, and tools that help you understand what's happening without requiring you to decode a wall of political jargon first.
And I want there to be a human being on the other side of the screen.
Your questions, suggestions and feedback are welcome. If something can be explained better, I want to explain it better. If something on the website can work better, I want to improve it. This project is constantly evolving, and the people who use it are part of that process.
Why support the project?
Building and maintaining The Political Nerd takes time, work and money.
The website requires hosting and infrastructure. Polling and election information needs to be maintained. Existing tools need improvements, and every new feature takes time to design, build and test.
I want to keep The Political Nerd accessible. My goal is not to put election results, polling averages, race ratings or interactive tools behind a paywall. And as the project grows, I'd like to keep the experience as free from intrusive advertising as I reasonably can.
If you enjoy The Political Nerd and want to help make that possible, you can support the project voluntarily.
Your support helps cover the costs of running the site and gives me more room to keep working on it, improving it and building what comes next.
What comes next
There's a lot more I want The Political Nerd to become.
I want to build a space for longer political analysis and commentary that isn't constrained by the limits of social media. I want to continue adding election tools, expand coverage, explore newsletters and updates, and eventually give supporters more opportunities to tell me what they'd like to see built next.
I'd also like to expand beyond the elections and political coverage currently available on the site.
And then there's 2028.
If The Political Nerd continues to grow, I want it to be here for the next presidential election with better tools, deeper coverage and everything I've learned from covering 2026. Eventually, I would love for this to grow beyond a one-person project while keeping the accessible and personal approach that made me want to build it in the first place.
If you'd like to help me get there, thank you.
If you can't or simply don't want to contribute financially, the site is still here for you.
